Lead UX/Visual Design for AGL Energy Mobile Application.

TASK
Add a feature into the mobile app for customers without a smart meter to enter their own meter read and estimate costs for electricity and gas billing periods.

CURRENT APP
Customers without smart meters could not see an estimate or visualised ‘cost to date’ data within the app. The major challenge was to create a UI that would cater for different types of meters and for those customers with multiple meters.

PROPOSED SOLUTION

I initially researched the various types of meters that customers had in different states and the way they presented usage data. I audited the various displays to try and find a unified solution. The final user flow considered the differences by integrating the type of meter information attached to the customer bill and build the meter entry interface such as number of input fields required in the iOS and Android app. I tested user flows and prototypes with customers in one one one user testing sessions to inform the final design of the meter number input fields and interaction. I worked closely with the product dev team to provide a suitable user friendly solution that could handle different types of data entry. The product was successful and customers re-engaged over time to manage their future bill estimations.
