TASK
Re-Design the Experience of the Deakin University Student Application Portal.

CURRENT APP
The current application and sign up experience was outdated and had only had minor cosmetic enhancements over the past few years to make it mobile responsive. Prospective students ended up calling customer service to apply as the online experience was cumbersome. Deakin required a full re-design and more intuitive experience for all new and current students and an experience which was secure, informative and inclusive. The new design also needed to connect seamlessly with an ageing back end infrastructure.

PROPOSED SOLUTION
Design and test a re-imagined experience of the portal. I undertook various UX research activities such as surveys, stakeholder interviews and one on one prototype user testing with students. I synthesised the research to inform and create a more intuitive and efficient experience this included the ability for applicants to enter basic information upfront and revisit to enter more complex details. The design had to be modular as to allow for further types of applications such as single unit courses and scholarships for different types of users whilst maintaining a cohesive experience. It needed a secure login experience and admin dashboard for students to manage their applications from applying to accepting an offer.
